i've had this weird interest in drawing oil rigs lately. i used to see them a lot off the coast of california. i think they look cool... but maybe thats just me.

back to some old school drafting

i had the option to hand draft or use cad for some housing plans for my dad. since i'm not pro at cad i decided it would be just as fast and a lot more exciting to use my drafting table. so i got it rigged back up with my parallel bar and all the other accoutrements. so far so good.

lines and dots

it is incredible what can be expressed through a simple

vertical line or a conglomeration of dots.

this is a plan of Paris created from vertical

lines with a black pen. it is abstract yet elegant.

stippling is a great technique when rendering an object

that has smooth textures and soft edges.

homes of architectural distinction

these are renderings i have done in watercolor of houses that my dad has designed. they are small 2 bedroom cottages that embody traditional character with a timeless way of living.

I have loved studying and copying Van Gogh's work. His colors are so bright and his brush strokes are so bold.
